Session Two of the 26th Legislature runs January 19-April 18, 2010.

The House Health and Social Services Committee passed Denali Kid Care, SB 13-Medical Eligibility this week!  Keller and T. Wilson voted do not pass.  Herron added his name as a cross-sponsor of the measure.  Its last committee of referral is House Finance.

 

The Senate Judiciary Committee invited representatives of the Legal Advocacy Project to present on the civil and criminal justice needs of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault as part of the Women’s Summit held this week in Juneau.

 

The Senate Finance Committee will accept Subcommittee departmental budgets next week and take public testimony on the operating and mental health budgets during the day on Wednesday, March 24th.  See Committee Schedule below for teleconferences times.

Title:                       Shelters for Runaway Minors

Content:                The bill is a statutory fix to allow programs like Covenant House Alaska to receive specific federal grants offered to facilities with a maximum bed capacity of 20 unless the state in which the program is run requires a higher number of beds to meet licensure requirements.  Covenant House’s capacity is 40 beds.
